Queries and SearchesThe Dutchess is the quarterly publication of the DCGS. Free queries for members only are published in every issue to the extent that space is available. The deadline for any issue is the 1st of the month prior to publication. Be sure to include your name, address, membership number and e-mail address if you wish, with your query. The Dutchess County Genealogical Society offers Name Searches focused on the pre-1880 time period. For a specific question based on one surname, we will search indexed materials in our library for up to two hours. The cost for this service is $10.00 for DCGS members and $20.00 for non-members. This covers the cost of up to 10 photocopies at no additional charge). These searches are performed by a limited number of volunteers. Because of a large response, we can only answer pre-paid queries. The money goes to the DCGS treasury and helps build the library collection. You must enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE) and the fee with your query. Please also include your e-mail address, - it is sometimes helpful to quickly clear up questions relating to a query. Click here for a Name Search Request Form (in pdf format). At this time, no requests can be handled via the internet. Further research is available from local specialists, listed below, for a fee. Please contact them directly.
